In ZEGG, guests are provided with dormitory accommodation. In summer, there are also group tents available. Single and double rooms, when available, can be booked for a supplementary fee – please book early to avoid disappointment! Any booking for a single or double room is only binding when the total price has been paid.

Guests in dormitory or tent accommodation are requested to bring their own bedding or sleeping bag, including a pillow, and a towel. We also recommend bringing an extra towel for the sauna. (Bedding is provided in single and double rooms.)

Bathrooms and toilets are provided on each floor for men and for women.

Food

ZEGG has a community kitchen which prepares the food for its residents and guests. Our food is vegetarian and prepared from almost exclusively organic ingredients – either from our own garden, the local region or fair trade sources. Vegan options are provided for some of the dishes (i.e. no animal products).

We ask any guests who have to observe a particular diet to inform us of their requirements when they book. We can cater for special wishes for vegan, lactose-free, gluten-free and raw-food options. Unfortunately, cooking on a large scale as we do, we cannot cater for more specific requests regarding e.g. allergies against particular foodstuffs. So we request any guests with specific requirements to bring anything they need with them.

In order to keep our event prices down, we ask our guests to assist with the washing up.

Prices

The prices we charge for the festivals, events and seminars are determined by the need to preserve the quality of our services, facilities and site. Therefore we can only offer a very limited amount of discounts. If you feel you need a discount, please enquire at the time of your booking.

Our prices are made up of the Course Fee (CF) and the costs for Board and Lodging (B&L) (the latter include 19% VAT). If guests stay in accommodation outside of ZEGG, we charge a small “Site Usage Fee” of 5 euros per day as a contribution towards the general running costs.

For the festivals: There are tiered prices with concessions for “early birds” who book well before the event. The early-bird price is only valid when your payment arrives on or before the cut-off date indicated in the program. If payment is made later, the normal price is due.

Bad Belzig is a certified “Luftkurort” (climatic spa). For this reason, a special spa tax is collected for all overnight stays: €1.50 per night, €0.75 for children. (Certain further education events are exempt.)

Payments

We ask you to pay your course fee at least 14 days before the event starts. Please arrange a bank transfer (including the event title as reference).

Our Cancellation Policy - valid as of 1.1.2021

If a guest wishes to cancel their booking and/or room reservation we charge a cancellation fee equal to the following proportion of the fee for the services booked, at least 40,-€ though (this also applies for free courses such as the autumn working week)

10% from the date the booking confirmation is sent
65% for cancellations received during the last two weeks before the event starts
100% from 6 days before the event starts or if the service is not claimed but no cancellation is received (“no-show”) or if a guest leaves early.

For our festivals (Easter, Whitsun, Summer Camp, New Year’s Eve) there are partly different prices and cancellation conditions:

10% is the minimum rate for cancellations after receiving the registration confirmation

Cancellation less than 2 weeks before start: 30%

Cancellation less than 6 days before start: 50%.

The date of cancellation is the date we receive the written cancellation.

We recommend guests to take out a cancellation insurance for seminars.

Children and Youth

For Whitsun, for the Song Festival, for Summer Camp and for the conference Living-Dying-Celebrating we welcome children and youth to attend. At all other times we do not offer any childcare or youth groups. In general, we recommend visiting ZEGG for the first time without your children.

People under 18 wishing to participate in any event need written permission from their parent or legal guardian.

Emergency Contact

We ask our guests attending festivals and large events to provide contact details for a person to be contacted in case of any emergency (severe illness, accident, medical or psychological emergency). Should the guest be unable to contact this person themselves, we can then contact them. This emergency contact information shall be used exclusively for the purpose detailed above. It shall only be used in case of an emergency and shall not be used in any other way or passed to any third parties.

Fires should not be lit and smoking is not permitted on our site, except for a few places that are clearly indicated.

Cancellation for Seminars and Festivals

Where a booking for a seminar, festival or accommodation takes place within 14 days of the start of the seminar or festival, this is considered as a mutual agreement for the service to start on the date indicated in the booking.

Insofar as you are a “consumer”, when you book a seminar you conclude a contract for the provision of services, and there are laws governing the rights to cancellation of this booking/contract. (You are a “consumer” within the scope of the law applicable to this contract if you are a natural person concluding a legal transaction which cannot be predominantly attributed to your commercial or self-employed professional activity.)

Cancellation Rights
You have the right to cancel this contract within fourteen days without giving reasons. The cancellation period is fourteen days from the day of the conclusion of the contract.

In order to exercise your cancellation right, you must inform us (ZEGG Bildungszentrum gGmbH) by means of an unambiguous statement of your decision to cancel this contract, in the form of a letter sent by post, fax or e-mail.

You can do this using the sample cancellation form attached but this is not compulsory.

To keep the cancellation deadline it is sufficient to send the notification of cancellation before the end of the cancellation deadline.

Consequences of Cancellation

If you cancel this contract we shall repay to you all payments that we have received from you, including delivery costs (with the exception of the additional costs that arise from you selecting a different type of delivery than that offered by us as the cheapest standard delivery method), promptly and at the latest within fourteen days from the day on which we received the notification of your cancellation of this contract. For this repayment we shall use the same payment method you used for the original transaction, unless something different is expressly agreed with you; in any case, no charges will be levied against you for this repayment.

In cases where you have requested services that begin before the cancellation deadline, you shall pay us the appropriate amount which corresponds to the proportion of the total services as governed by this contract that was provided by us before you exercised your right of cancellation for this contract.

Exclusion and expiry of rights of cancellation

Exclusion of rights acc. to § 312g BGB (German Civil Code)

The right to cancellation shall not exist for contracts for the provision of services in the fields of accommodation other than for residential purposes, transport of goods, deliveries of food and beverages, or services related to leisure activities, if the contract obliges that contractor to provide these services on a specific date or during a specific period of performance.

Expiry

The right to cancellation in a contract relating to the provision of services shall expire when the contractor has provided these services in full or where by common accord the contractor has begun to provide these services.
